Because, at SGL, the focus is on you, the student. Everything we do is defined by your goals on the guitar. In the first lesson, I work with you to create a custom curriculum that highlights the songs, exercises and techniques essential to your guitar development. I will guide you down the quickest and most enjoyable path to your objectives. I will never force you to learn something that is not relevant to you.

Everything in our lessons is approached from a creative standpoint, a technical standpoint, and a theoretical standpoint. For those willing to venture deep, I will illuminate the connection between the physical, tactical guitar experience and the seemingly abstract world of music theory. By breaking down scale theory and chord building into simple, playable exercises, I demystify the jargon that often scares off beginner and intermediate players.

If you don’t want to dive deep into the guitar and just learn to play some of your favorite songs, I won’t force you to study. This isn’t school; it’s fun. You pick any song you want, and, as long as it is in your skill set, we will learn it. If it’s not yet within your grasp, we will get you the skills you need to play it.

I take advantage of all the teaching tools available. Upon signing up for lessons, you will get written materials, as well as a dropbox folder with electronic copies of all documents. You will also get to choose a song for my professional scoring treatment, which includes tablature and standard notation.
