Tablature

What is guitar tablature? It’s a form of musical notation that indicates fingering on the guitar rather than pitch. Also called tab, tablature is often the quickest way to learn songs, scales, and exercises.Tablature can be a great tool, but it has its limitations. First of all, most of the free online tablature available is wrong. Chords are often mislabeled, fingerings are off, and notes are in the wrong place. What if the tab creator happens to get the chords right? it is still almost impossible to read the nonmusical and nonsensical formatting used on those sites. Second of all, even good tablature that is formatted correctly still doesn’t give you important information like rhythm, chord shapes, and note names. Third of all, there is no way to hear the tab to make sure you are playing it as written.

Fortunately, I use a method that solves all those problems. Most importantly, all my tabs are guaranteed for 100% accuracy. I use the software [guitar pro 6]  to personally author charts that include tablature, standard notation, and chord diagrams. Best of all, I generate mp3s from the software that play back exactly as the music is written, so you can practice along at home.

The other piece missing from tablature is the personal touch. I will answer any questions you have regarding the notation or performance. Students not in San Francisco can ask questions over email, phone, or skype. Don’t waste any more time poring over internet sites to find mediocre tablature.
